HIGH THROUGHPUT MASS SPECTROMETRY FINGERPRINTING INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns.
Drug discovery addresses key unmet medical needs through the identification and validation of therapeutic targets, generation of leads, and optimization of those leads into drug candidates for clinical evaluation. The intern will establish a workflow for high throughput metabolites/lipids fingerprinting of cells using IR-MALDESI-MS system. This includes optimizing existing cell extraction protocol and instrument conditions to maximize analytes coverage, identify suitable normalization methods and establish a data processing workflow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Identify the optimal cell extraction and IR-MALDESI conditions for enhanced metabolites/lipids coverage from cultured cells
Provide feedback on developing customized MSiReader for high throughput fingerprinting experiments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with lipidomics/metabolomics/machine learning
Experience with cell culture and cell-based assays
