More About the Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to help lead Site Reliability Engineering within our Runtime Engineering organization. This position will oversee a team of SREs which co-owns critical production services. In this role you will have direct reports. You'll be responsible for career planning and goal setting for the individuals on your team as well as your team's overall charter. You will be responsible for your team's sprint planning, keeping an organized backlog, creating project plans, etc.

The Impact You Will Make

* Your team will co-own critical production service designs to provide a high bar for reliability that is measurable and achievable.
* You'll initiate reliability and observability improvements. Using SLOs and other telemetry data, you'll help your team make informed decisions on where reliability opportunities may exist and help develop solutions to address them.
* Your team will build internal tools and automation software to make maintaining production services easier and safer.
* You'll advocate for and lead reliability-focused practices such as Failure Analysis, Load and Capacity Planning, Service Reviews, Architecture Designs, Incident Postmortems, and others.

What You Bring to the Table

* Prior experience managing individual contributors and being responsible for team and individual success: Goal setting, reviews, calibrations, coaching, project management, etc.
* 5+ years of experience as a high-performing individual contributor in a web-facing software engineering / site reliability engineering background.
* Microservice architecture and distributed systems design experience
* Distributed monitoring experience: SLOs, metrics, tracing
* Working knowledge of cloud technologies: AWS, GCP, Docker

About Our Tech

* Most of our internal tooling is written in Python.
* Most of our microservices are written in Java
* Observability tools we use: Datadog, Splunk, Lightstep.
* Our primary persistence store is Cassandra
* We operate in 3 Amazon regions (hot+hot+hot)
* We primarily rely on AWS and its services: EC2, S3, SNS/SQS, ElastiCache, Lambda, etc.

New York Salary Range: $176,000 -$242,000

The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
