POSITION SUMMARY:

Specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of bariatric surgery patients. The Bariatric Surgeon will act as an expert in providing direct patient care to preoperative and postoperative bariatric surgery patients, case management, program coordination, and providing education for patients and their families in an effort to promote safe, effective weight loss. The surgeon will identify the need for tests or follow-up visits, review patient history and confirm when patient is clinically eligible for surgery. The Bariatric Surgeon coordinates a course of treatment for patients while working with an inter-disciplinary team of nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dieticians, hospitalists, radiologists, pathologists and pharmacists. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations.

* Demonstrated expertise in Bariatric Surgery diagnoses: assessment, intervention, surgical and patient care management
* Knowledgeable regarding a scope of practice
* Experience performing Bariatric and General Surgery
* Demonstrated leadership abilities
* Excellent customer service skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal and conflict resolution abilities
* Independent performer

Required Experience

* Current California Medical license
* Graduate from an accredited Medical School
* Graduate form an accredited General Surgery Residency program.
* Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
* Board Certification from the American Board of Surgery
* Graduate from Fellowship Training in Bariatric Surgery
