Willamette Management Associates (a Subsidiary of Citizens) is seeking an experienced research analyst to work with our Director of Research in support of our business valuation professionals. Specific responsibilities include responding to valuation staff requests for search and selection of guideline publicly traded companies, guideline merger and acquisition transactions, federal and other regulations and statutes, judicial decisions, valuation and forensic accounting literature, and financial and capital markets data.

Specific research responsibilities include:

+ Industry research using a variety of sources, including paid subscriptions (e.g., IBISWorld), industry associations, news articles, government sources. Occasional write-ups of industries for client reports.

+ Guideline company searches and guideline transaction searches using S&P Capital IQ, FactSet, Pitchbook, and Deal Stats.

+ Regional economic research. Sources are generally state and municipal government websites, university research departments, and news articles.

+ Pulling market data on publicly traded companies, including share prices, betas, analyst consensus estimates, volatilities, and other information, as needed. Sources are Bloomberg and FactSet mainly.

+ Fixed income securities searches, including bonds and preferred stock. Source is Bloomberg.

+ Closed end fund searches using Bloomberg. Also pulling data on closed end funds (NAV, prices, etc.).

+ Professional literature searching using sources such as Westlaw, ABI/Inform, JSTOR, along with our own library of articles and books.

+ Court case searches using Westlaw.

+ Standards, statutes, and regulations searching using various sources, including Westlaw.


Required Skills/Experience:

+ 5+ years' experience in a research assistant role, preferably with a either law firm or a financial advisory services firm (e.g., business valuation, investment banking, capital markets or investment advisory).

+ Experience with the following data bases preferable:

+ Standard & Poor's Capital IQ

+ FactSet

+ Bloomberg

+ Westlaw

+ Pitchbook

+ Excellent online research skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Outlook)

+ Organizational and time management skills

+ Ability to work independently and self-initiate projects

Education, Certification, and/or Other Professional Credentials:

+ Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, economics, or pre-law.
