Patient Care Technician (Nursing Assistant) opportunity on G19E- Lymphoma Unit (Day/Evening)

G19E is a 24-bed (growing to 48 beds) intermediate mixed hematology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from 18 - 95. Patients treated on G19E include those with blood cancers such as Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma and Stem Cell Transplants receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens, management of treatment side effects and complications, and supportive care. Patients are typically admitted to the unit for a series of admissions at phased intervals. Side effects of the agents include significant GI complications, cardiac complications, renal failure, hypotension, and thrombocytopenia. Nursing interventions are focused on administration of oral, intravenous, chemotherapy, blood administration and other agents, and management of symptoms and side effects. Patient care also includes management of acute non-cancer related medical problems, cardiac monitoring, and transition to supportive care.

Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. May substitute additional education for required experience a one to one basis. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Prefer one year of recent experience working in direct patient care as a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician.

Day / Evening: 7 am - 3 pm - 11 pm / 3 pm - 11 pm / 7am - 7 pm and 26 out of 52 weekends per year

Patient Care Technician Salary Range: $34,500 - $43,100 - $51,500


Function: Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.

Scope: Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Essential Job Functions Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.

Education Required High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Preferred Experience in a hospital setting as a Nursing Assistant

Licensure/Certification Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Other Required Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
