Job Purpose: You are a focused and communicative team member. You provide basic care, treatment, and support of animals.

Pay: $17/hr

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours) - 8 hour shifts

Days and times required to work:

Candidate availability is a consideration in hiring. Candidates will be asked questions about availability in the application process. Must be available to work at least one Saturday or Sunday shift per week.

Saturday and Sunday shift times

  • 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • 9:45 AM - 6:15 PM

Monday - Friday shift times

  • 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • 10:45 AM - 7:15 PM
  • 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM

*Shift times are subject to change based on the needs of the organization

Location: Golden Valley

What you will be doing:

Customer Service - Interact with customers and provide timely support.

Animal Care - Perform treatment and monitoring of animals. Complete basic medical procedures. If working in shelter, process foster animal returns and release. If working in the clinic, assist in all aspects of the spay/neuter clinic, wellness clinic, and specialty surgeries.

Communication - Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information.

Support - Support in surgery tasks in accordance with established procedures. Complete data entry in computer system. Assist in the evaluation of animals and with humane euthanasia as required.

Culture - Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS's behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

What we are looking for:

Schedule - Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours as defined by leadership with the expectation to work varied hours, including evening and weekend shifts.

Communication - Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a leader of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.

Experience - Animal handling experience preferred.

Computer Skills - Proficient with computers, specifically, a working knowledge of Microsoft products.

Adaptability - Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations and the willingness to assist at other sites.

Physical & Emotional Capabilities - Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of and assisting with euthanasia. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must have a high level of resiliency.
