Foundation Health Partners will be hosting a Phlebotomy Fellowship and sponsoring four (4) community members through the Spring 2023 Phlebotomy program at UAF Community Technical College. Foundation Health Partners will cover tuition and book costs for the Fellowship participants in exchange for a one-year, full time commitment of employment with Foundation Health Partners Laboratory. The Phlebotomy program starts in January, and class and externships should be completed by end of April 2023. Evening classes, times and . Upon completion of coursework and required externship, Phlebotomy Fellows will begin full-time employment as a Non-Certified Phlebotomist after their externship and class is completed. About Fairbanks Memorial HospitalFairbanks Memorial Hospital is a non-profit facility owned by the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation. Performs specimen collection and patient preparation, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity by using appropriate techniques as required. Aliquots and labels specimens according to established departmental procedures and practices, delivers specimens to the technical area in a timely manner and / or performs initial processing and preparation of samples for transport. Transport of patient specimens and/or patients, per guidelines.  Performs registration processes, including collecting insurance information, verifying coverage of Advanced Beneficiary Notices, and obtaining authorizations and signatures. Verifies patient demographics, insurance, and diagnostic test information. Enters data into appropriate systems to ensure accurate documentation and billing.  Focuses on quality by assuring that all work performed is accurate and complete. Initiates computer generated reports as required for patient reporting and quality assurance monitoring. Completes documents and records legibly and accurately per site protocol. Maintains familiarity with departmental procedures. Uses appropriate documentation to record communications.  Communicates with physicians, clinical and hospital staff, nursing and Health Information Management Services to resolve outstanding issues and/or patient concerns.  Maintains laboratory equipment. Maintains clean, safe work environment and makes appropriate reagents/bleach.Performs other technical support functions as determined by the department. Trouble shoots routine problems within their area of responsibility.  May perform assigned patient testing. May perform collections for drug and alcohol screening, following chain of custody protocols. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
