About the role
As a Financial Assurance and Levy Officer in the Compliance Programs Unit's Financial Assurance and Levy Team, you will be principally involved with the technical assessment of financial assurance proposals for the waste and contaminated land industries. A smaller component of the role may be involvement in the validating and auditing of waste levies generated from waste to landfills.
With a heavy focus on environmental and waste data, we work to ensure that all duty holders are compliant with the financial assurance and waste levy provisions of theEnvironment Protection Act 2017. This involves exceptional organisation and planning, authoritative stakeholder management and negotiation, drafting of legal advice requests and executive briefs, and data analysis and management.
The role will contribute to the delivery of the expanded financial assurance framework under theEnvironment Protection Act 2017,including the new financial assurance instruments - Environmental Action Notices and Site Management Orders. You will also provide expert advice on EPA's financial assurance framework to other business units.
About you
You have a keen sense of risk identification and management and are confident in detailed analysis to inform the exercising of powers. You are solutions oriented and escalate matters when needed. You're looking to join a high performance and supportive team.
Skills and experience
Experience in a regulatory environment.
Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures into practical actions.
Knowledge of financial assurance and levies is desirable.
A detailed knowledge and understanding of Victoria's environmental protection laws is desirable.
Analytical mindset
Strong technical writing and written and verbal communication skills.
A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive team
(Desirable) A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications.
