Manager, Cloud Safety Engineering (Remote-Eligible)
The cloud can be a dangerous place for the uninitiated - it's our org's mission to make it less so. Our teams are responsible for implementing the cloud controls that secure our company and ensure the developers responsible for their cloud resources are notified of non-compliance (and are supplied with means of addressing it). This role is to manage a newly-established team working on building a product that will drastically improve user experience and help to evolve our cloud compliance ecosystem to the next generation.
We are looking to hire hands-on people leaders who are passionate learners, have a strong track record of growing/mentoring engineering teams, and are motivated to take on new challenges. As a manager, you will be a technical, detail-oriented leader who can build and grow an engineering organization using strong judgment and programming skills. You will have a solid understanding of the products and systems your team owns, their limitations, and the reasons behind architecture decisions.
What You’ll Do:
Lead a technology project and its team of developers to create solutions that help meet Cloud Security and Compliance needs for the company
Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and prototyping/implementing the technical solutions.
Collaborate with product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment
Be familiar with and help the team utilize programming languages like TypeScript, Python, and Go, NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker, Serverless, and a variety of AWS tools and services

At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
At least 2 years of people management experience
3+ years of people management experience
3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
2+ years of experience in open source frameworks
2+ years of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City
- $190,950 and $225,278 for Manager, Software Engineering
Location is Colorado
- $161,847 and $190,943 for Manager, Software Engineering
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
