An opportunity is now available for a Deputy Project Manager to support the delivery of Australia’s National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) under Project Land 19 Phase 7B.
Project Land 19 Phase 7B will acquire an advanced Short Range Ground Based Air Defence (SRGBAD) capability for the Australian Army. This is a major acquisition contract which involves working with key overseas partners and the management of a significant Australian Industry Capability program for local suppliers.
Reporting to the NASAMS IPT Lead, the NASAMS Deputy Project Manager will ensure the IPT (including Subcontractors) deliver within the schedule and budget constraints of the project. The experience you bring to this position will see you work proactively with specialist functional teams and key defence stakeholders. 
Key Responsibilities:
Guiding, managing and developing team members, including the day-to-day coordination, planning, development and verification of the program’s key performance indicators, as well as, providing briefings and reports.
Leading and collaborating in a cross-functional environment to meet operational requirements; ensuring product and service commitments meet cost, schedule, quality and performance specifications.
Assessing, identifying and managing risks, issues and opportunities in accordance with company policies.
Actively manage Subcontractors’ performance to ensure contract commitments are met.
Develop and implement tools, templates and processes as well as identify and develop opportunities for improving project management techniques and procedures.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Project Management or other relevant disciple with a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience.
Strong communication and software system skills, coupled with the ability to present professionally to various stakeholder groups directly or in virtual meeting forums.
Prior experience with planning and managing cross-functional and stakeholder communications and a proven background in managing teams.
Understand the concepts of systems engineering as applied in projects, coupled with skills in estimating work effort, resource requirements, duration and value.
Availability to undertake travel where necessary to meet project requirements.
A background in defence industry project management enhanced by knowledge in military systems, technology, hardware and operational programs will be highly advantageous.
