Role Summary
 
We are now seeking a Freight Operations Specialist to support our national Transport Advisory team. This presents an excellent opportunity to join a team with a strong and respected delivery track record, with multi-year engagements supporting major Australian rail projects. In this key role you will be responsible for managing the delivery of existing rail operations and strategic projects as well as the development of new work.
 
How you will contribute:
Develop rail freight operating strategies that take a holistic view of end to end supply chains.
Develop supply chain solutions that provide operating and financial benefits to customers.
Translate high level operating strategies into more detailed service plans and notional timetables.
Integrate freight operations into mixed passenger and freight railways including working with simulation modelling and timetabling teams to develop effective solutions.
Apply operational knowledge and experience across the whole freight supply chain and project lifecycle– from strategic demand and operations planning during business case phase, through development of Concepts of Operations and onto operational readiness.
Lead project teams and represent SNC-Lavalin Atkins in front of key clients, stakeholders, including government-level sponsors, freight and railway operators.
 
Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities
Degree qualified in engineering, transport planning or other relevant disciplines.
Experience in managing teams of technical SMEs, including input from remote/global SMEs within a project delivery environment.
Demonstrated ability to work with other project disciplines including engineering in project teams.
Excellent technical, project management and communication skills to manage the delivery of strategic and technical advisory engagements
Ability to engage with and represent SNC-Lavalin Atkins in front of senior stakeholders and government representatives
Adept at communicating complex ideas to non-specialists, including writing, drawing and presentation skills
