PRN Day Shift


Under the direction of the Radiologists and Chief Technologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

Principle Accountabilities: Time Spent

1. Practices proper entries and records on Radiology Information System and PACS.

2. Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patients' needs.

3. Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.

4. Prepares patients images for interpretation by Radiologist.

5. Instructs students on clinical radiographic skills.

6. Performs other duties as required.


High School Diploma, graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology.Must hold a current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T) registration. Must meet continuing education requirements as mandated by A.R.R.T.Must have minimum 1 year clinical experience.Must maintain completion of Basic Life Support (BLS).


The assessment, care and treatment provided will take into consideration the specific are related needs of the patient. The Radiology Technologist is competent to care for neonates/infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric adults groups.Maintains competency's for other departments.

Reporting Relationships (Text Only)

Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team, including other healthcare providers, the patient, the patients family and significant others. Takes direction from: Chief Technologist, Radiologist Provides direction to: Patients, patients' family members, and student technologists Supervised by: Chief Technologist, Department Director

Working Conditions

Employee must, on a continuous basis, have the ability to talk with patients and communicate with other departments of the hospital, and the ability to maintain good working relationships and to understand and carry out instructions. Employee must frequently position and transfer patients. Employee occasionally assists physician in administering opaque media. Employee occasionally rotates within the department or other departments and by shift as required. In the absence of the supervisor or Chief Technologist, may occasionally be designated as acting supervisor. Employee must have a continuous knowledge of hospital and Radiology computer systems regarding their function and capabilities. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
