This position is part of a Pan European and Indian team responsible for the build & support of Managed Cloud Systems comprising of Storage, Virtualisation and Compute infrastructure. The team focuses on supporting existing platforms including EMC, NetApp, HP, SolidFire, Cisco UCS, VMware and other manufactures products as per Customer requirements. This is achieved by providing 2nd and 3rd line operational support for existing managed services customers and the onboarding of new customer agreements.
You will be working with a team who are spread across Europe and India. Management is conducted out of the UK. You will need to be a self-starter who is highly motivated and able to complete work with little supervision. Communication with your immediate team will be face to face but also via IM, Phone Calls and Emails.
It will be vital to be able to work closely with other teams (Network, OS Platform, Backup, DBA) to provide a fully rounded level of support when troubleshooting and rolling out a new solution. The role requires flexibility to work on callout duty (on a rota basis) and occasional out of hours planned maintenance work. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in new solution builds.
Provide L3 support on Virtualisation and compute BAU activities
Comply with ITIL (change, problem and incident management) processes
Ownership for all infrastructure Operations Support of Getronics’s Internal and External customers using Service Now
Ensures that appropriate software or specialist monitoring tools are used to maintain awareness and control of the hardware and software
Create various reports for capacity and performance and configuration as per Customer requirements
Develop and maintain procedures and working practices for the efficient and effective running of all tasks associated with operating and controlling installed hardware and software
Conduct investigations on system performance, make proposals for improvements and implement them when appropriate
Liaise with all Getronics managed service vendors like Symantec, EMC etc. for management and support of Backup solutions
Work closely with own & other infrastructure team members across EU & India
Flexible to perform On-Call, Out of office hours activities, travel abroad for short/medium term basis depending upon Business requirements
Schedule and supervise all maintenance and installation work for upgrades, working with the vendor and Getronics ServiceDesk.
Sound fundamental knowledge of VMWare and Cisco UCS / Dell EMC platforms and other hardware platforms.
Hands on knowledge of supporting L3 operational activities & troubleshooting in the areas of Vmware Virtualisation.
Hands on knowledge of supporting L3 operational activities & troubleshooting on Cisco MDS platform
Hands on knowledge of supporting L3 operational activities & troubleshooting on Cisco UCS platform.
Must be familiar with Storage technology with appropriate functionality including replication, Data Store and allocation of Storage.
Good understanding NFS, and Fibre Channel protocols, fibber Channel cabling, and zoning
Good understanding of Windows and Linux systems
Ability to work on own initiative
Liaise effectively with other teams
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English language.
Understanding of NetApp storage array & Brocade FC switch architecture.
Good understanding of Networks
Previous experience of working with project team & deliver as per design
Good understanding & working knowledge on HP-UX, LINUX, Windows 2008+, VMware ESXi.
Good understanding of Cloud & Virtualized environments
Good Understanding of ITIL processes
Basic understanding of Zerto
Knowledge of Backups systems will be a bonus.
· Minimum of 4 years with at least 2 years of relevant experience
· VMware certified
· Cisco UCS / Dell MX Series Hardware
· Must be a graduate
