WHAT YOU'LL DO
BCG is looking for a product owner for IT data, to own the definition and management of all data that is used by the IT organisation across all our IT and Digital teams.
BCG’s digital teams generate and use a broad span of data to measure their efficiency, effectiveness in processes but also many other dimensions such as cost, security, monitoring, projects, configuration and inventory data, and process measures like metrics on Devops to pinpoint what is working, and not working.
The heart of this role is to help define and manage the data IT uses all day every day to drive better outcomes for our customers, staff, and digital teams and to modernise how our IT team thinks about data and its value.
This role will define the personas who use and produce data, their use cases, and the business value they are trying to achieve.
You will own and orchestrate the development of an enterprise-wide data models for IT. This will include what the elements are, their data quality metrics, their method of update and ownership across all our IT processes, delivery, and operations.
This is all intended to provide a critical foundation for our ambitions to become a bionic organisation where humans are augmented by computers and AI.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Data Domain Owner, you are strategically responsible for the IT data domain definition and governance by providing operational governance tasks and data life cycle governance.
In this role you ensure long-term usability of data assets, according to FAIR principles as well as interoperability between internal and external data.
As a data enthusiast, you drive change towards a data-centric way of working.
Additionally, you support operational processes affecting data in the domain including setting, implementing, and managing indicators for data quality.
With your expertise, you provide leadership of the data domain forum as a decision-maker and by empowerment of the data stewards and stakeholders.
Furthermore, you develop and maintain change management, communication, and training processes to ensure adequate quality and compliance awareness and you continuously align with other data domain owners and data stewards.
Accountable for compliant collection, processing and sharing of the data, as well as sorting-out retention requirements, not just from a data privacy point of view, but also from a functional point of view.
Energizing our businesses to see the possibilities for efficiency, effectiveness by using data. You will define the current and future state data models and ownership for BCG IT and how we will get there.
Finally, you will act as a key and lead contact for data consumers, Data privacy & protection team, and other relevant functions, e.g. Data Strategy, Legal, IT PMO and functional teams.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
You will have mastery in data management and modelling, able to see the possibilities but also drive change.
Finding great answers to complex and ambiguous questions and connecting and collaborating across teams to develop solutions. You will seek diverse views, and with a growth mindset considering both conventional and unconventional answers.
Rolling up your sleeves and “doing”, pioneering the way forward and bring others along with you. You produce high-quality arguments and supporting materials. You are adept at agreeing these at different levels in the organization.
Influencing and collaborating with others, especially business leaders, solution architects and technical leaders working within your domain area.
Applying modern methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, Lean, Design/Product thinking and UI/UX to your work and encouraging others to adopt and use these methods.
Optimising your own role and delivering results. You understand that architecture is part of a value stream where we need to play our part in being efficient to help increase velocity and reduce risk across the architecture team and the teams we work with.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
7+ years of managing & owning data in a significant IT organization.
Your experience will include multiple successful examples of:
Defining business value of data
Setting up and running data management processes
managing stakeholders at various levels in an organization
leading and agreeing data orientated decisions at a portfolio and individual application level
leading the discussion on complex data topics where there is ambiguity and conflicting requirements and getting to a successful resolution
leading Data life cycle decisions through to a conclusion in a highly matrixed organization
Experience of new age Data cataloguing & data governance tooling.
preparing materials for senior levels including C-Suite
YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will be reporting to the Director for Enterprise Architecture for Data and work in the central Chief Technology Architecture team. You will be an individual contributor and will have strong dotted line relationship to many other roles across all of the IT teams.
