The Job

Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Products seeks an R&D Engineer. This is an intermediate level position responsible for new product development and engineering support activities. The position is also responsible for the in-laboratory development of new products and processes; technical support for existing product lines; design of custom products and RFQs; technical support for sales and customers.


  • Design and development of new products and processes.
  • Responsible for the laboratory development of new production procedures, and maintenance and improvement of existing production procedures.
  • Design parts and assemblies using SolidWorks. Create 3D models for the purposes of testing and design evaluation.
  • Coordinate services and projects from third parties. Source material, products, and service in order to convert designs into cost-effective, production scale parts.
  • Support design transfer to manufacturing and ensure that products satisfy their intended use.
  • Act as the technical support for sales via customer interactions, trade shows, and customer visits.
  • Responsible for technical support of the Eckert & Ziegler Quality System through creation and maintenance of design files, technical files, risk management, etc.
  • Meet safety and regulatory requirements (ALARA, SS&DR) for products and processes through process design, testing, and validation.


  • Minimum of a BS degree in a scientific field (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) and 2-5 years’ experience.
  • MS degree in a scientific field (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology), with nuclear-related fields preferred; Will consider PhD in a scientific field.
  • Proficient in nuclear science, with the ability to apply scientific theory to resolve technical issues related to the product.
  • Ability to independently manage long-term projects.
  • Must possess critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and work with other departments and colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support selling efforts.
  • Experience with Medical Devices a plus.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications. SolidWorks or simar 3D CAD experience a plus.
