In the Location Analysis Team we deliver insight into the evolution of the UK's local markets - understanding what's going on out there - between Sainsbury's Brands, customers, competitors and channels. We combine geospatial analysis with best-in-class data and tech to build great decision-support products, which in turn help deliver sound investments that work for our customers and deliver great returns for our shareholders. There's also no shortage of BIG location questions to answer across the business - so we do that too!

As a Data Analyst - Tableau you'll own and manage the Sainsbury's Tableau Online site and develop best-in-class spatial products that deliver location analysis for Sainsbury's.

You'll have also a background in analytics through work experience or recent studies, but most importantly be able to think logically.

  • Develop best-in-class products in Tableau, and Excel to deliver efficiency gains and location insight to Sainsbury's Property and Strategy teams.
  • Be our in-house expert for all things Tableau and act as primary support for our users.
  • Maintain and develop our in-house apps, macros, and data products. Plan opportunities to improve performance and user experience.
  • Apply your SQL skills to ensure that the data that is foundational to our products is kept current, relevant, and robust.
  • Create great supporting materials, documentation, and training
  • Respond to technical issues and requests for data from teams and colleagues across Sainsbury's.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in the delivery of best-in-class data, analytics-tech and efficient process automation.
  • Coach and support the Location Analysis Intern.

More about you:
  • You have established skills in Tableau (Desktop, Online), Excel and SQL
  • You are highly numerate and have a degree or equivalent qualification in Geography, Economics, Maths, Business Information Systems or similar.
  • You have an in-depth knowledge about Business Information Systems
  • You are aware of complexities around handling spatial data
  • You understand logical processes and have a mathematical mind-set
  • You are a self-starter with high degree of self-motivation and drive.
  • You have a structured approach, good time management and a clear deadline focus.

Benefits

As a Data Analyst - Tableau, you'll receive a host of great benefits. As well as a competitive salary, rewarding bonus scheme, you will receive a huge range of learning and development opportunities, 25 days' holiday, a save-as-you-earn scheme, pension and staff discounts at Argos, Sainsbury's and Habitat.

Work-life balance is important to us, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role. We trust them to decide how, where and when they work, combining remote and collaborative working with a flexible approach to hours, giving them plenty of time and space for life outside of work whilst delivering against our business goals.
