Head of FestivalsLocation: Head Office London SW7 - (Agile working policy in place)Hours: Part time (28 to 31.5 hours/week)Salary: £41,600 to £50,960 FTE (pro-rata according to the number of hours worked)

Our client's Head Office is based in London, but they have an agile working policy enabling people to work at another UK location up to 4 days/week. Requests for permanent remote working will be considered and the organisation welcomes applications from people based in other parts of the UK.

The Head of Festivals is responsible for setting the strategy and overseeing the development and delivery of the British Science Festival, Europe’s longest running science festival, and managing the UK Science Festivals Network and associated projects.

You will lead the curation of an engaging programme for the Festival with relevant speakers and content which attract a range of audiences, particularly those that are underrepresented in science.

In addition, you will lead the UK Science Festivals Network which meets several times a year to share best practice and discuss the future of the science festivals sector. You will oversee delivery of associated projects.

The Head of Festivals will have festival management experience and expertise in engagement/communication with public audiences, either in science or other disciplines.

You will have a track record of developing and implementing successful, innovative projects and partnerships in engagement/communication. You will have a strong understanding of how to engage underrepresented audiences.

You will also have experience of managing high performing teams, overseeing budgets and fundraising. While you do not need to be a scientist to work for the organisation, experience of science communication is desirable.

Frequent travel to the festival location will be required for this post, including a week on-site during the Festival (September 2023).
