DC444 – Chartered Building SurveyorLocation – LondonSalary – £42,000 to £45,000Overview:First Military recruitment is working in partnership with our client – a market leader in the management of commercial and mixed-use property – to recruit a Chartered Building Surveyor to join their team in London.The Surveyor will be expected to be able to take control of a variety of projects and deliver tasks along the spectrum of the Building Surveying service line. It is expected that you will be able to manage and take ‘full ownership’ of a given number of instructions, as well as assisting senior members of the team on larger projects. You should be looking for the added value in jobs and having the confidence in putting your views forward is essential in this growing team. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and take ‘full ownership’ of jobs.
  • Meet the team director and day-to-day line manager for one-to-one meetings.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Attend quarterly in-person Building Consultancy meetings.
  • Attend client monthly management meetings alongside your line manager and act as a Building Consultancy representative.
  • Carry out property inspections and take note of building defects, tenant alterations, lease expiries, occupiers, and what is happening in the local area.
  • Take the lead on projects acting as Contract Administrator or Employers Agent.
  • Draft and present reports for issues to clients and discuss in meetings.
  • Attend meetings with tenants and consultants.
  • Monitor internal Health and Safety platforms to ensure the properties are compliant with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Work with the in-house property managers, facilities managers, credit controllers, client accountants, purchase ledger, and treasury.
  • Attend networking and CPD events.

Skills and Experience:

  • Achieved MRICS qualification.
  • Experience of Commercial property Building Surveying in a similar role.
  • An understanding of the rationale behind the building surveying opportunities and showing a readiness to engage.
  • Client facing skills.
  • AutoCAD proficient.
  • Able to hit deadlines, targets and KPI’s on tasks/instructions.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating at various levels.
  • Effective PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft and Google packages.
  • Pro-active, flexible attitude to changes in the company, IT systems and the role.
  • UK Driving Licence.
