About this position

Evaluates/treats neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric customers with cognitive/ communicative and swallowing disorders maximizing functional independence. Completes documentation, communicates outcomes and provides education and consultation to the customers, staff and community. Treatment is provided in the hospital and outpatient clinic.

What we’ll expect from you

• Interprets/reviews MD orders and medical records.
• Provides appropriate testing/assessment per customer need, evaluates care plan and takes appropriate action as necessary, to include pediatric customers. Contacts MD and other professionals noting evaluation results verbally and/or in writing as appropriate and provides re-evaluation as needed.
• Designs, implements and revises treatment plan/goals considering the customer's developmental stage, goals, and medical status, and communicates with customers, family and staff as appropriate.
• Provides education to customers/families, staff and community, and develops material using a variety of modalities depending on the need.
• Follows charge and payer requirements per department procedure, obtains and/or verifies authorization for treatment from MD and/or payer
• Provides scheduling information to schedulers per department procedure
• Provides screening services
• Communicates with insurance liaison, as appropriate
• Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

• The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list. • Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility.

Education

• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology. Consideration will be given to those seeking a Clinical Fellowship who have previous graduate student experience in the department.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Inpatient: 2 years' experience with the populations being served. • Demonstrated ability with the populations being served.
• Demonstrated problem solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory

• Speech Language Pathology licensure in the State of Minnesota
- State Requirement
• Current BLS certification or completion of certification during orientation period
- NMHC Standard
• Must possess current class D driver's license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record if driving to alternate locations
- NMHC Standard
• Must provide annual proof of insurance per hospital policy if driving to alternate locations - NMHC Standard
