Mission:

The Mission of St. PJ's Children's Home is to be a safe and loving refuge for children in crisis and to accompany them on their journey to healing and wholeness, breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect one child at a time.

Summary:

Provide comprehensive delivery of therapeutic counseling and related services to adults and children at least 62% of the time. Must understand the Trauma Assessment and Treatment Model and will ensure 100% of eligible clients receive completed assessment and treatment plans. Complete clinical documentation within 23 hours of service provision. Participate in clinical staff meetings and program development. Participate in providing field based services and consultation as needed. Must be willing to maintain flexible schedule to meet the needs of clients and respond to on call rotation for emergencies.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provided direct therapy, assessment, Trauma Assessment and Treatment Services, group/family services, and occasional crisis intervention to children/families in office, home, emergency shelter and school/DFPS settings for 62% of the time.*
  • Provides educational support and guidance to case managers and caregivers.*
  • Develops specific therapeutic activities and interventions that are designed to enhance opportunities for healing.*
  • Completes required documentation and monthly reports for DFPS clients.*
  • Maintains continuing education standards of licensing board,
  • Maintains continuing educations standards for specific therapeutic interventions.
  • Represents the standards and practices of therapeutic counseling.
  • Completes clinical documentation within 23 hours of service provision.
  • Participates in on call rotation as directed by management.
  • Attendance and successful completion of a 10- day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education
    • Master's degree in Counseling or related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Counseling with at least 1 year of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families and/or shelter setting experience.
  • License and Credentials
    • License Professional Counselor (LPC) required
    • Trauma Informed Care training preferred
    • Reliable transportation
    • Valid driver license
    • Valid vehicle insurance

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Counseling including trauma, crisis assessment, on call rotation.
  • Extensive working knowledge of trauma informed care.
  • Experience with computer software, Electronic Health Records and Telehealth(i.e., AdvancedMD software preferred);
  • A solid grasp of DSM -V, clinical assessments, and diagnosis;
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
