Job Description

Position Title: Leadman

Position Reports To: Foreman

Job Profile

A Scaffolding Carpenter and Lead Carpenter are responsible for directing personnel in the safe execution of the site specific scope of work items outlined in the contract documents. Lead Carpenter is also responsible for all associated paperwork and documentation as described in the Apache manuals and programs that apply.

Essential Function

Read prints, specifications and both written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties and responsibilities as listed below. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks. Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time inside confined spaces, often with breathing equipment required. Must be able to tolerate extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure that all employees are working in a safe manner and environment. Carpenters are to fulfill all requirements outlined in the Apache Safety Manual, site specific requirements, and customer specific requirements.

2. Initiate and manage the daily tailgate safety meeting and JHA.

3. Follow directions of Scaffolding Forman to understand the scope of work and bring to their attention any potential problems and issues.

4. Ensure that all Apache and customer specifications, guidelines, and programs are being followed and documented as required.

5. Responsible for directing the field-crew in the performance of daily tasks.

6. Ensure that work is being performed in a manner that is consistent with Apache, client and regulatory requirements.

7. Ensure that EVERY individual scaffold component is thoroughly inspected to verify good condition and integrity. Any defect encountered will require removal of services.

8. Ensure that all scaffolds are erected/dismantled in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer, OSHA, Apache and client's recommendations/requirements.

9. Ensure that completed scaffolds are thoroughly inspected prior to tagging.

10. Update scaffold-tags at the beginning of each shift, or more frequently if required.

11. Must maintain a positive attitude with crew members.

Qualifications

The following qualifications for shall be ascertained by Apache Management. Some qualifications may be measured by interviews with Apache management, employees, and/or previous employers.

Lead Carpenter -

1. 2 years of uninterrupted service with Apache as a Scaffold Carpenter.

2. Additional 2 years experience as a Carpenter in the scaffolding industry, for a total of 4 years Carpenter experience (see above).

3. Able to give clear and concise instructions to multiple employees in the execution of work.

4. Possess the ability to maintain basic field equipment such as air compressors, man lifts, forklifts and etcetera.

5. Ability to interpret erection drawings.

Carpenter -

1. 2 years experience as a Carpenter in the scaffolding industry.

2. Able to give clear and concise instructions to multiple employees in the execution of work.

3. Possess the ability to maintain basic field equipment such as air compressors, man lifts, forklifts and etcetera.

4. Ability to interpret erection drawings.

Drug Program

Carpenters should be aware that Apache has a comprehensive drug policy and program in place, which includes random testing.
