Head Of Research And Development
Purpose of the Job
Develops and provides strategic direction for project management, technology adoption, implementation.
Provides direct supervision of department personnel and supervises through intermediate managers and lead workers.
Engage with the internal stakeholders to understand the business requirement and facilitate the business solutions.
Actively involve in client facing roles to discuss the business requirement, understand their solutions and strategically negotiate the terms and conditions in favour of the project.
Oversees the daily operations of Technology Solutions projects by planning, organizing and directing the team.
Roles & Responsibilities
Manages a diverse staff of technology specialists responsible for enterprise level software applications, web services, technology-enhanced solutions, wireless technologies, artificial intelligence, block chain technologies, machine learning and technology training programs.
Plans and implements the organization of work and appropriate training for department needs and requirements.
Develops and implements long-range plans for the organization. Works cooperatively with stakeholders and others to develop strategic and tactical plans to facilitate and coordinate the delivery of technology solutions / services.
Tracks and tests new technology and new techniques. Establishes procedures to support research and development activities to determine the suitability of new technology and procedures.
Works closely with the staff of major vendor partners and other colleges and universities. Maintains the existing vendor partnerships and makes use of these relationships and others to manage the execution of technology support contracts.
Develops plans, procedures, and activities to support business recovery including backup and restoration procedures, vendor agreements, data retention, and restoration planning.
Stays current with developments related in technology area, as well as management practices which involves reading publications, subscribing to Internet lists, attending conferences and workshops, and meeting with colleagues.
Will be responsible for tweaking the product portfolio to ensure growth of the company.
Implementation of right system in place.
Reviews and evaluates research and development protocols, results and conclusions.
Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies, practices, and products in the marketplace, which may affect the organization's core businesses or result in new opportunities.
Participates in cross-functional teams as technical representative as required.
Manages day-to-day operations of staff, assesses current and future staffing needs based on organizational goals and budget realities Responsible for recruitment, selection, training, orientation and retention of team members.
Coaches and develops knowledge and competencies of team members. Ensures that the responsibilities of the position are carried out in accordance with the company's policies, empowerment and decision interaction requirements, operating and performance standards, and ethical and professional values
To organize presentations and seminars for innovation promotion.
Knowledge on patent filing and IPM (Intellectual property Management)
Knowledge on government grants and benefits given by DST (Department of Science and Technology) or any other Institution/firm.
B.E/Diploma - Mechanical/Mechatronics/Instrumentation
Knowledge of various Technologies & its uses to configure different solutions, major innovations in technology domain and key applications in the market
Track record of taking highly complex projects from inception to full scale in technology solutions with cross functional challenges and problems
Demonstrated ability to match ideal market available solutions with complex business requirements
Ability to manage ambiguity in an evolving and dynamic environment and the ability to drive good trade off decisions based on business needs and constraints
Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with a variety of different audiences and strong presentation skills
Excellent problem-solver, able to quickly change direction based on business intelligence and/or strategic change
