Electrical Hardware Engineer / Electrical Hardware Design Engineer required to support a global manufacturer based in Brighton.

The Electrical Hardware Engineer / Electrical Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for hardware design taking customer requirements from conception to reality. You will also be responsible for Product validation and functional testing.

The Electrical Hardware Engineer / Electrical Hardware Design Engineer will be joining the global electronics manufacturer on an ongoing basis through a contract inside IR35.

Primary Objectives

  • Keep up to date with industry standards (CE, UL, CSA and FM)

The team

You work in a small international team of Electrical engineering specialists.

Technical Skills Required

  • 8051 Microcontroller Embedded C and Assembly Language
  • Kiel 8051 Toolset experience
  • Knowledge of hardware design on 8/16/32bit microcontroller systems
  • Microchip (Atmel) AT89C51 and AT89LP51 device families (desirable)
  • Microchip (Atmel) AT89C51 to AT89LP51 code migration (desirable)
  • Knowledge of universal offline SMPS typically in flyback topology up to 30W
  • Knowledge of DC-DC SMPS typically in isolated push-pull or half-bridge topologies up to 2W
  • Knowledge of Low-level analogue sensor front end designs and interfacing to discrete ADCs or Delta-sigma ADC chips for signal acquisition of thermocouple, PT100, 4-20mA & 0-10V signals
  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layouts that comply with industry approvals for FCC/EMC and safety Board Level HW / SW debug experience
  • Able to understand test methods and fixtures
  • Ability to diagnose faults and identify the route cause
  • Bachelors degree in electronics/engineering (or equivalent is advantageous)
  • EMC test experience (is advantageous)
