SDET II – Software Development Engineer in Test

Solveda is investing heavily in building a world class eCommerce business and we are responsible for defining and delivering a collection of eCommerce platforms. Our solutions are strategically important to our Retail and Marketplace customers driving long term growth.  

We are currently developing innovative new features, and we’re looking for top test/quality engineers to ensure our very high-quality bar is met and raised. As a Software Development Engineer II, you will define and build test suites and push our eCommerce systems to their limits and beyond.  

You will work with program management, development teams and our QA organization to scope out features and understand the customer requirements, then work side-by-side with the team to ensure the quality of our system.  

You should have a demonstrated track record of delivering high quality products, quality requirements, and test strategies. You should also be comfortable presenting technical material to internal and external audiences in support of our customers. Candidates should be able to define and implement test strategies, frameworks and test code at the user and system level, as well as building automated test suites. Our SDETs use many testing techniques; they can understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests and/or user-level test automation tools. Understand complex distributed system architecture and design.

Key Responsibilities 

• Evaluate systems and customer facing functionality and create test strategies and test cases to assess quality for multiple regions and marketplaces  
• Build test frameworks and test automation  
• Writing and executing test plans, designing, and developing test tools, debugging and reporting code bugs and pushing quality upstream.  
• Working closely with technical leaders to develop the best technical design and approach for testing our functionality at scale.  
• Build software quality solutions where the problem is not well defined. You can understand the interaction between the components in a distributed system in order to ensure they are functioning properly.  
• Create and execute appropriate quality plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.

Basic Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience  
• 4+ years of experience in software quality engineering and testing  
• Experience building and designing test cases including knowledge of test methodologies  
• Ability to write and troubleshoot code in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or similar  

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field  
• Experience working closely with development and business teams to present quality/test data, read business data, negotiate on the scope of test coverage/timing/resources, and to actively pull business requirements out of data/partners and distill them to test/risk strategy.  
• Demonstrated experience in test strategy development, test planning, test designing, and test execution.  
• Experience testing distributed systems  
• Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience developing product test frameworks  
• Experience with open-source tools and resources  
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
