Software Engineering Manager

Overview of the Role:

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented engineering manager to join our growing team. In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and monitoring engineering functions. You will be responsible for overseeing various engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines and making any necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion.

To be successful as an engineering manager, you should have exceptional foresight, great communication skills, working knowledge of different engineering disciplines and how they relate to one another, and an aptitude for managing risk. Ideally, candidates will have proof of their supervisory and technical skills, and an appreciation for the complex nature of the industry

Key Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Manager, set priorities for the team, provide technical support to the team, get results across boundaries, ensure an inclusive work environment, develop employees, and manage performance.

Handling mid-sized teams with various management responsibilities that include resource management, reviewing, assessing, and managing quality of work, leading projects, developing a technology strategy, and managing stakeholder relationships.


Direct, analyze and approve product design and changes; Discuss project specifications by consulting with stakeholders. Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes

Supervise and lead engineers, scientists, and technicians who design machinery, plan and develop projects, and oversee production and quality control. Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff


Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally-Monitor and determine various needs. Researching and developing designs and products.

Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time. Oversee the research and development of new products and procedures. Make detailed plans to accomplish goals. Discuss and layout project specifications. Review, approve, or modify product designs. Develop cost estimates.


Craft a meaningful vision for the team, working with cross-functional stakeholders. Handle prioritization, and trade-offs and set appropriate expectations for delivery; Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic and technical goals.

A deep understanding of technologies and architecture in a highly scalable and available set- up. Expertise in highly transactional, large relational, and complex systems.


Strong object-oriented design skills, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive modules and class-level interfaces. Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems.


Lead and manage a high-performance core-engineering group of developers, Responsible for engineering roadmap and execution from concept to delivery.


Hiring, coaching, goal-setting and professional development of team members. Inspiring and encouraging the team. Ensuring that team dynamics continue to be healthy and that team cohesion is high.

The role involves understanding the product roadmap and priorities and working closely with the product management team to refine them. Subsequently, work with engineers to build a high-quality, testable, scalable, secure, and high-performing application. \


It is a hands-on role that involves full responsibility for features from release to closely monitoring production to ensure it is working as expected.


Education: Masters / bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent work experience.


Skills and Experience:

· 10+ years as a software developer working on large-scale enterprise software.

· 3+ years as a Software Engineering Manager with a proven track record in meeting commitments.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong management and leadership skills.

· Hands-on Experience with working on large-scale production-level applications.

· Shall be responsible for redesigning existing systems.

· Conduct code reviews and specification conformance testing as defined by the selected software development methodology.

· Building, developing and grooming engineering talent and teams.
