Permanent Stores Manager

Organisation Information:

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing ORourke, two of Europes most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Purpose of the role:

Establish strategic supply chain with effective management of stock to ensure Equipment & Materials are available to coincide the construction program. Develop relationships with project leaders and supply chain to enable information to flow effectively to enhance stock management and minimise stock holding.

Develop team and integrate I.T based solutions to minimise people interface for improved material management.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

  • Management of warehouse team, platform workforce and support staff
  • Supply chain management of the embedded parts and permanent items
  • Forecasting with production/delivery teams against the final design
  • Effective supply chain management principles
  • Monitoring and matching the production schedule of the suppliers with business/project needs
  • Anticipation of production peaks and implementation of ad hoc solutions
  • Liaise with the BYLOR Quality and Central Engineering teams to solve production concerns before they become BYLOR nonconformities
  • Manage the controls on reception of permanent items
  • Establish effective quality control process and an effective quarantine management system
  • Liaise with the procurement package managers, pre-construction teams, methods engineers and central engineering to deliver the long look forecast
  • Create and implement the Stores strategy and process management
  • Conduct Internal and external quality audits and improvement plan
  • Be involved with other Bylor parties for elements of contract management of the supply chain partners to ensure the following:
  • Compliance is maintained (Quality team + Central Engineering)
  • HS&E concerns are raised and closed in a timely manner
  • Regular meetings/contact to ensure a healthy relationship is maintained
  • Site updates and forecasts are shared between all parties
  • Non compliance/conformatiesare suitably dealt with
  • Lessons learned are shared
  • Key performance indicators (KPI) and risk management is developed and monitored

Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of steel/Manufacturing engineering /welding is desired
  • Experience in warehouse and supply chain management
  • Understanding of ISO 9001standards
  • Understand engineers drawings/autocad

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong communicator who is proactive, able to forecast and create solutions

Ability to develop successful working relationships with stakeholders

Experienced in following roles:

  • Warehouse management
  • Stock management
  • Supply chain management

Traditional office software knowledge (MS Office), GMAO advantageous

**Please note occasional trips to suppliers facilities (England, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Bulgaria Portugal) will be required.

Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing ORourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Hinkley Point C is located in Bridgwater, Somerset. The closest major cities are Bristol and Exeter.

Bylor is a joint venture between Laing O Rourke and Bouygues, so this position is permanent and directly employed by either Laing O Rourke or Bouygues.

Somerset boasts beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages along with easy access to the M5 and within proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.
