Principle Mechanical Engineer

Principle Mechanical Engineer Contract London (hybrid)

Our client is one of the fastest-growing data centre operators globally having originally been focused purely in the US over the last 3 years they have expanded across EMEA and now into APAC. For their current London based project, they require the expertise of a Principle Mechanical Engineer.

They are recognised as one of the leading data centre hyperscalers globally and already providing infrastructure for many of the well-known technology companies such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon.

Principle Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Participate in new product development process from inception to implementation and apply for and obtain patents for the company to retain its IP
  • Research and evaluate new vendors and products with a goal to achieve operational improvement, reduce project cost and improve project schedule
  • Review and approve OFCI equipment submittals to ensure they align with company specifications and coordinate the details with other teams
  • Coordinate with regional design execution teams to understand OPR deviations and lessons learnt on projects
  • Conduct analysis to determine if the OPR deviations and/or lessons learnt from site-adapt projects can be applied to improve Vantage standards and specifications
  • Participate in creating and standardising mechanical sequence of operations (SOOs) in coordination with internal automation teams
  • Conduct value engineering analyses, and provide system recommendations based on return on investment and IRR analysis
  • Identify and create tools and templates that will add new value to the products delivered to our internal and external customers
Principle Mechanical Engineer Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • 7 years of experience in mechanical systems design and construction
  • Data Centre and/or mission critical experience
  • Experience with NA or EU construction markets
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word and CFD modeling software environments with Revit, BIM, Naviswork
  • Working knowledge of critical cooling infrastructure within a data centre
  • Well versed with all building codes and ordinances, including ASHRAE
