Linux System Administrator

Due to growth within their technical team, a leading telecommunications company based in Dorset are currently recruiting aLinux System Administrator.

Salary:This is likely to be in the region of £40,000 - £55,000 pa, which is completely negotiable depending on your relevant skills and experience,. They also offer 10% company bonus with regular salary reviews, and excellent benefits which we have listed below.

Location:Ideally, you will be based at their head office in Poole, Dorset a couple of days per week. They provide a flexible working arrangement where you have the option to work remote working from home a few days per week (or fully remote initially for anyone planning to relocate).

As a Linux Systems Administrator, your role will involve:

  • Building and automate infrastructure with physical and virtual components
  • Working with Open-Source software to scale, harden, and deliver reliable technology
  • Ensuring strong security through access controls, backups, and Firewalls
  • Working on an exciting range of projects, which will include hands-on exposure to modern technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and so much more
  • Continually developing your skills in top of the range technologies through excellent training and support from other members of the System Administration team

This role would be suitable for someone who has:

  • Previous experience working as a System Administrator or Linux Engineer
  • Strong experience and understanding of Linux operating systems
  • The ability to work with Linux the majority of the time (approx. 90%)
  • An understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Any experience working in the telecoms industry with an understanding of networking and key protocols, for example IPv4 / IPv6, SIP, SNMP, VLANS, etc. (advantageous)
  • Any knowledge of CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar technologies would be advantageous

Additional Information:

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm (some flexibility on hours may be available on request)

This role would be ideal for: A Linux Systems Administrator of any level with experience working in a sysadmin team, or alternatively a Linux Engineer / Systems Engineer (or someone with a similar/relevant background involving Linux operating systems)
