QA Microbiologist Team Leader

QA Microbiologist Team Leader – Competitive Salary DOE + Benefits – York, UK

The Role

Do you possess Degree level qualification in a microbiological area such as microbiology, biotechnology, or food science? Do you have 5+ years of industry experience driving microbiological Quality Control and Quality Assurance? If so, we have an exciting new challenge for you.

We are seeking an experienced leader to manage the day-to-day activities of a small but high-quality team to support both Product Development and Manufacturing Operations.

Reporting into the Operations Manager, the QA Team Lead will be responsible for quality assurance of Azotic’s existing and future microbial product portfolio.

Candidates are expected to have a hands-on approach with a strong academic foundation in microbiology and/or biotechnology, as well as either; commercial experience in the quality assurance of microbial-based products, or broad experience within a microbiology diagnostic environment.

The position is based at Azotic’s new Technical Development Centre, situated close to York.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a QA Microbiologist Team Leaderinclude, but are not limited to:

  • Create the suitable quality systems to implement and manage microbial product assurance within Azotic.
  • Build a small team and manage the day-to-day QA/QC operations of the organisation to ensure existing product batches meet expected quality standards.
  • Support product/pipeline development activities such as formulation assessments, stability trials, agrichemical compatibility assays and similar microbiological activities.
  • Support a continuous improvement culture within the laboratory environment.
  • Provide regular updates into the Operations Manager and other senior staff.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a QA Microbiologist Team Leader:

  • 5+ years of industry experience driving microbiological Quality Control and Quality Assurance in a food, pharma, agronomy, diagnostics, or pathology environment.
  • Ideally, experience working closely with CRO/CMO organisations (either as client or within the CRO/CMO).
  • Minimum Degree level qualification in a microbiological area such as microbiology, biotechnology, or food science.
  • Detail orientated with strong organizational ability, coupled to project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, proven collaborator with ability to work independently and to integrate well within a larger team.
  • Strong influencer with a balance or patience and persistence to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient use of computer programs (Excel, Word, Power point).
  • A self-motivated individual who thrives on success of themselves and others.
