Job Summary
S&C is the specialist in high voltage switching, protection and control, providing products for the electric power industry since 1911. Development Engineering - Interrupting Systems is responsible for the integration of Power Hardware subsystems in bringing new products to market. This position is for a team-oriented, early career, electrical engineer with interests in product development. This position reports to the Manager -Interrupting systems.
The Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and analysis of medium voltage power distribution switchgear, magnetic actuators, and current transformers
- Development of novel test plans for new and existing products
- Execution of medium voltage and high-power testing per relevant standards on new and existing product designs
- Preparation of necessary design models, drawings, and requests to create test vehicles
- Presentation of significant findings, orally and in writing, to senior management and engineers throughout the company
- Participation in formal A3 Problem Solving events as well as Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) events
- Providing superior engineering support for cross functional development related problems
- Providing high quality engineering support for internal and external customers
- Design, build and test engineering plans for concept validation
To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with data processing and scripting languages such as Matlab, R, Python, or Excel VBA
- Working knowledge of current/voltage transformers, magnetic actuators, and power electronic devices
- Desire to work hands-on
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Ability to operate successfully both independently and as part of a larger engineering team
