This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Associate Traffic Engineer for our Seattle, WA office . The following locations will also be considered: Portland-OR, Honolulu-HI. Be involved in projects with our Northwest Pacific Traffic & Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Join our mobility team as we plan, design, and develop our regions transportation systems. Tasks may include plans preparation, field reviews, safety and operational analysis. Collaborate on projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, working across disciplines and beside national subject matter experts and inspired local project managers. Your Impact
Perform professional traffic engineering work relating to signage, signals, ITS, illumination, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic.
Support preparation of plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates
Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, and as-builts for project development.
Assist with traffic engineering studies and operational analysis.
Assist with technical reports summarizing research, analysis and conclusions.
Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work.
Work collaboratively with other engineers, planners, scientific professionals, and DOT and transit agency staff.
Ensure a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Occasional travel as required by project-specific requirements.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related discipline.
1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.
Knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, expresses ideas effectively and professionally to a range of audiences.
Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Passionate about improving travel for people.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training Certification.
Prior design experience.
Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and other applicable design software packages.
Experience with multimodal and active transportation.
Experience with Synchro, Vissim, and other traffic operations analysis/modeling software.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional organizations.
Masters degree in Engineering or related discipline
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific needs, that may extend beyond the regular schedule in a typical work week.
