Engineer In Training - Mechanical

Williams + Harvey's is hiring for a Mechanical Engineer in Training to join our growing team and work under a licensed Professional Engineer. In this position, the Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) will be responsible for performing mechanical calculations, code research, and designing Mechanical and Plumbing systems for large residential and commercial buildings. What You'll Do:
  • Prepares schematics and drawings for the construction of new or remodeled buildings
  • Performs design computations for buildings to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and codes
  • Provides oversight and coordinates the work of contractors to ensure appropriate execution of construction drawings
  • Applies engineering standards and procedures
  • Improves engineering and design practices
  • Creates coordination, fabrication, and installation drawings including equipment locations, duct/pipe routing, hanger/mounting plans, as well as sleeving and penetration drawings for installers
  • Prepares Bill of Materials for material ordering purposes
  • Performs clash detection and coordinates duct and pipe routing with other disciplines to eliminate routing conflicts
  • Attends project coordination meetings as necessary
  • Problem solve difficult construction related issues
  • Read and interpret architecture, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire suppression drawings
  • Read and interpret equipment submittal drawings
  • Communicate and coordinate with both internal team members and external partners to complete projects
  • Performs all work in accordance with applicable Mechanical and Plumbing codes and Engineering Department Practices
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

What You Bring:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience Designing HVAC, Plumbing, & Hydronic Systems for Large, Custom Residential & Commercial Projects is a plus
  • Familiarity with Uniform Plumbing Code, ASPE Standards, & All relevant Plumbing Codes & Standards is a plus
  • Familiarity with International Mechanical Code, ASHRAE & All Relevant HVAC Codes & Standards is a plus
  • Team oriented individual that excels in a flexible and changing environment

Software Experience Preferred:
  • Autodesk Revit
  • Heating/Cooling Load Calculation Software
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • Microsoft Excel
