Youth Program Specialist (EX) - CAS/DHQ - Youth Dept.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the salvation of the youth in our division, as well as their spiritual, emotional and intellectual development, and the creation of healthy relationships with Christ and one another.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and administer numerous youth programs. Like but not limited to, evangelism, retreats, workshops and Bible Study sessions, and sports and extracurricular activities.

  • Lead the planning and implementation of divisional youth events.

  • Create Biblical sound content and curriculum for youth programs as needed.

  • Create and implement ways to better serve the youth in our division.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with various leaders in the division for purposes of youth outreach.

  • Encourage youth local leaders and serve as a resource.

  • Identify, develop, and empower youth leaders within the division.

  • Promote Salvation Army youth ministry programs and events to the division.

  • Supervise Youth Coordinator

  • Lead and teach Bible lessons to youth.

  • Assist DYSs in the recruitment of potential Candidates.

  • Work with DYSs in building the yearly youth event calendar & budgets for events.

  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the DYSs.

Working Conditions:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 10lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

This position may be subject to EO 14042 which requires all employees to be vaccinated or be exempt for medical or religious reasons.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AA degree in Bible Studies/Youth Work/Theology or relevant field of study. BA preferred.

  • At least 2-3 years working with young people in a leadership role.

  • Active Salvationist preferred.

  • Must have a valid drivers license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects.

  • Must have the ability to work well independently and in a detailed, professional and courteous manner.

  • Familiar with Mac interface.

  • General knowledge of software applications, such as but not limited to: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, pages, keynote, Numbers, Canva, Google Drive.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills accompanied by a positive attitude.

  • Great computer and creativity skills in designing new and entertaining ways for youth to learn about life in Christ and faith values.

  • Excellent organization and supervision skills.

  • Strong management and leadership skills in educating and preaching religious messages.

  • Evident relationship and belief in God and the church.

  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends, and travel around the Division.

  • Proficiency in evangelical studies and youth ministry

  • Willingness and ability to keep confidentiality.

  • Maintain appropriate office appearance and professional attire.

  • Driver's License



  • 2-3 years: Minimum experience working with young people in a leadership role.
