Sr. Controls Engineer

Role Responsibilities


    • Leads the team of electrical & controls work in Frankfort
      • One controls technician
    • Directs all controls, electrical and process maintenance improvement initiatives in the Frankfort plant
    • Assists with all controls integration of new and existing equipment installations and/or modifications at the Frankfort plant
    • Assists with planning & directing of maintenance specialist - electrical work
    • Organizes, prioritizes & supervises controls related projects and assigns tasks accordingly to the Controls Engineering Technicians
    • Directs & manages goal and development plan for the Controls Engineering Technicians
    • Runs, manages & directs CAPEX projects as necessary
    • Coordinates and assists with electrical PdM execution with controls technicians and maintenance team
    • Works with the maintenance team to ensure all regulatory and compliance PMs are completed within guidelines
    • Coordinates with maintenance department to schedule work as necessary and updates and implements preventative work plans
    • Provides all necessary permits for safe work (hot work, confined space) for related work
    • Manage and supervise contractors on all relevant projects
  • Coordinates with the maintenance & engineering manager to ensure adequate adherence to budgets
  • Works with storeroom supervisor and department supervisors to ensure critical spares are kept for associated equipment
  • Uses SAP to prepare Purchase Requisitions for necessary materials as necessary
  • Works with reliability engineers to develop standard operating procedures for maintenance tasks
  • Regularly audits PMs to ensure adequate capacity planning
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience


  • 10+ years' experience in an electrical and/or controls engineering field
  • Post-secondary education (administrative/engineering/science)
    • Preferred Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong electrical aptitude and experience with low voltage circuity (480V)
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Computer literate - preference to SAP, Microsoft Excel
  • Strong technical knowledge in maintenance crafts, possesses mechanical inclination, understanding tools, various equipment
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Union environment exposure preferred
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
