Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
As a Consulting Architect within the PSO Americas Multi-Cloud practice, you will gather and analyze customer requirements to create an architectural plan to support the customers key business and technology outcomes including Multi-Cloud solution design; solution technical design; recommended configurations; validated deployment & acceptance processes; operations strategy; and user adoption plan.
During your first 3 months, you will work with a mentor and peers to gain insight and experience into VMwares internal processes and solutions and understand the wider technical landscape and how it relates to our business goals and those of our customers. Your manager, mentor, and peers will help you gain access to other important internal stakeholders to help you establish your network of contacts across different VMware business units to make you successful as a Consulting Architect.
Within your first 6-12 months, you will be expected to lead the design and use case development with NSX-T solutions and use cases (federation, DR, Intelligence, micro segmentation, NSX V to T migrations, ATP, etc.) as well as AVI solutions & use cases (Server Load Balancing On-prem & public cloud, GSLB, Container Ingress on TKGs/m & AKMO/AMKO, Avi + Horizon/VDI integration & LB refresh/SLB migrations (F5/Netscaler, etc); BGP, L2 Switching, L3 Routing, Load balancers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Security/Trust Zones, GW for boundary segmentation (vlan, etc), DFW for East West segmentation, dIPS for intrusion prevention, ALB WAF for web filtering.
You will also be expected to lead workstream level teams and coach/evaluate the work of your peers to ensure the highest quality in services delivery.
You will work with customers on their business and strategic goals and use your in-depth knowledge of VMwares NSX and Load Balancing solutions to work with customers on building successful implementation roadmaps.
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
This is a consulting position, where you will intensively be using technical, consulting, business, and leadership skills. You will work directly with our customers and other VMware employees on the day-to-day activities involved with the post-sales implementation of VMware Cloud, NSX and AVI solutions. You will articulate solution design, integrating both technical and business concepts, and present a transformational journey to project stakeholders. Your goal is to lead the customer through their journey to successfully adopt our platforms for their end users. You will manage customer expectations and work with Project Managers to create project plans with realistic workstream timelines.
You will interact with various customers teams, from technical engineers and system administrators to business leaders and executives. You will communicate effectively to all audiencesthis is key to the success of your projects.
We will count on you to challenge existing delivery processes and identify customer trends in the digital workspace to assist in developing go-to-market strategies and new or revised service offerings. You will also contribute to digital leadership forums (whitepapers, blogs, conferences, etc.).
You will be presenting information to customers and internal teams and are expected to have experience creating and sharing technical and architectural information in a meaningful and re-usable manner.
You will be leading small to medium sized technical teams and should have experience with project governance frameworks like PMP. You will be partnering with a Project Manager and will be working side by side to deliver the solutions you create to our customers.
Our customers will need solutions that are integrated with their L2 switching and L3 routing protocols, firewalls, IDS/IPS, trust zones, VMware vSphere and VCF environments. These solutions will be complex and rewarding as we focus on defining and meeting our customers' business outcomes.
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The manager for this position will be a seasoned leader within our Professional Services team. You will be part of a 10- to 15-person team that collaborates closely with other teams working in the multi-cloud space in the Professional Services Organization.

Where is this role located?
Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-4 time zones of the primary location.
Depending on customer requirements, you might need to travel to execute your projects across the US and potentially Canada. Travel typically occurs Monday through Thursday.
