Position Overview
SubCom is seeking a Project Engineer at its Newington, NH location. In this role a Project Engineer assists in developing integrated solutions for the design and implementation of undersea fiber optic communication systems. In this role, you will work closely with a multi functional groups, including R&D, Manufacturing, Marine, Sales and Project Management. This is a fast paced and dynamic environment requiring the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while optimizing efficiency and maintaining engineering excellence.
Responsibilities include assisting Sales and Project Management in providing responses to Customers technical questions, delivering technical presentations and issuing related technical documentation. The position expects daily collaboration with R&D Engineers and Optical Designers in order to address customers questions and compile required documentation for all stages of a project: from pre-sale activities to project implementation to the Commissioning and Acceptance.
Responsibilities
Coordinate internal teams to develop technical solutions for new undersea telecom cable networks
Lead accurate preparation of technical proposals and ensure on time delivery of the required documents
Review technical specifications to define project scope for R&D Engineers and assist Sales in developing bid strategy
Support technical discussions with system purchasers during system bid process
Work with the PLM on defining product features needed for a given system bid
Provide technical support during contract forming and contract variation negotiations
Facilitate Technical Working Group meetings with Purchasers and Project Management
Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering or related field is required (MS is preferred)
Understanding of optical networking concepts and building blocks, such as coherent optical transmission, DWDM, transponder, ROADM, EDFA/Raman amplification
Course work and/or experience in the area of fiber optics and telecommunications
Strong presentation skills and ability to manage multiple priorities are essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
International and domestic travel will be required at times
