An exciting opportunity within Hopkins Correctional Centre, Department of Justice and Community Safety
VPSG 3 classification (salary range $72,751 - $88,336)
Fixed-term, full-time role until 31 December 2022

About Us

Hopkins Correctional Centre provides accommodation for sentenced and unsentenced prisoners with protection requirements in an open campus environment, combining community-style prison design with the Better Living Model (an innovative case management model for prisoner management).

About the Role

The Finance Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing a team of Justice Officers, ensuring the delivery of high quality, efficient financial services to Hopkins Correctional Centre. The position will provide detailed financial analysis, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting advice to the Finance Supervisor and regional managers for allocated cost centres. The position will also be responsible for supporting the region's annual budget development cycle. As a member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for imparting financial knowledge to staff across the prison.

This position may require direct prisoner contact, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement 2020.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

a demonstrated experience in financial management, in particular analysis and reporting, and utilisation of financial management system
a demonstrated experience in compiling performance reports and improving processes and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness
excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve issues through interpretation of existing guidelines.
