The role

You will provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients and their families throughout their patient journey, during their stay at Mount Isa Hospital and contribute to the discharge planning process.p>

Working alongside health professionals and other staff, the role is to assist to improve the sensitivity and understanding of all health care providers with respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural beliefs and other issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.p>

Requirements

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 Qld, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.p>

Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful candidate; this include criminal history checks and Vaccine Preventable Diseases VPD risk role compliance.PD risk roles require evidence of vaccination or immunity to
Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and COVID-. 3-month period of probation apply.p>
