Clinical Assistant

We are seeking a part-time CA3 Clinical Assistant tjoin our team at Core Laboratory, Central Specifmen Reception, Pathology Queensland. This role is responsible for performing a broad range of simple tcomplex pre-analytical procedures consistently, accurately and maintaining competence in the operational aspects of the Core laboratory unit in Herston. What and whare Pathology Queensland

Pathology Queensland PQ provides diagnostic pathology services tall Hospital and Health Services HHS across metro, regional and remote Queensland, offering laboratory services in the disciplines of anatomical pathology, chemical pathology, haematology, immunology, microbiology, and genomics. PQ alsprovides an invaluable service tQueenslanders by supporting a coordinated response tincidents and disasters.

Pathology Queensland:

Has laboratories located within 35 Queensland Health hospital facilities, providing 24/7 service every day of the year
Employs approximately 2000 staff including specialist pathologists, registrars, scientists, technicians, laboratory assistants, and operational and support staff, across Queensland
Supports than 450 point-of-care testing devices, extending access tpathology results in remote locations and after hours with testing at the patient's bedside
Is involved with 70 per cent of all medical decisions and in all cancer diagnoses
Is critical tthe delivery of positive patient outcomes and plays a key role in delivering on Queensland Health's commitment tachieve good health and well-being Queenslanders
Works alongside clinicians tbetter understand diseases, enable earlier diagnosis, inform treatment options, and monitor disease progression.
Provides specialised testing services for samples referred from public and pathology providers within Queensland and from interstate

What we are looking for:

This is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team, squalities of resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability tcontribute positively ta team environment are essential. Central Specimen Reception Team > 40 staff
Experience in or the ability trapidly learn pathology pre-analytical processes, e.g. sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, storage, retrieval of specimens etc, in a large and complex core laboratory unit.
Proven ability tsolve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
Proven ability tmanage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
Strong attention tdetail, ability tfocus in a busy, complex environment.
Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and IScertification.
Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable tcontemporary workplaces.
