About the role
We are looking for a Manager, Design and Engineering, who will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of engineers and business analysts to provide project estimation, delivery and engineering support to delivery teams. Work undertaken by the team includes detailed design and reviews, infrastructure implementations, quality assurance and other project activities. You will lead project teams through the development and implementation stages to ensure that project objectives and value are defined and delivered. You will manage local and remote teams to perform this work.
Reporting the Manager, PMO and Delivery, APAC East - the Manager, Design and Engineering will be working in a collaborative and exciting environment.
As the Manager, Design and Engineering you will be responsible for the following:
Develop and foster a culture of collaboration and inclusiveness with a commitment to HSE, Rio Tinto's core values and psychological safety in the team.
Accountable for providing support the demand process by preparing and collaborating on estimates, bills of materials, and sourcing of vendor quotes in order to provide fit for purpose solutions, accurate estimates in a timeously manner
Accountable to provide technical input to project planning and implementation in order to achieve sustainable solutions that meet Rio Tinto standards.
Oversee the engineering process and delivery timeframes in order to keep projects on schedule and budget.
Accountable for quality assurance over solution designs, knowledge management, adherence to architectural standards and guidelines in order to provide fit for purpose solutions that meet Rio Tinto standards
Maintains continuous alignment of project scope with business objectives, and making recommendations to modify the project in order to enhance effectiveness in achieving business results.
Liaises with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and contractors in order to align and maximize efforts for project delivery.
Provides technical support and direction to project stakeholders, building on and sharing the lessons learnt in order to continuously improve end to end solution delivery.
What you'll bring:
Dedication to promoting a positive safety culture
Experience in a similar role managing and executing projects and leading a team of IS&T technical resources (applications and / or infrastructure and business analysts resources) with a thorough understanding and significant experience in the types of work that these resources undertake.
Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution (including risks and issues management).
Successful track record in leading, managing and developing technical teams
Operating in an international context, including participation in global teams
