Your role as a Hospitality Services Assistant Submariner (known in the Navy as a Hospitality and Logistics Support Submariner) requires you to deliver hospitality services and support operations on board a submarine at sea. The main aspects of this role can be broken down to three main areas: hospitality, business and logistics, and capability support.

This is a dynamic position where you’ll be in service in more ways than one. In addition to your core hospitality and logistical duties, you’ll also take on a key support role onboard in the areas of medical assistance and first responder for any incidents on board.

You’ll gain skills in a wide variety of areas. Some of these include, but aren’t limited to:

Hotel and canteen management services
Personal valet for the Commanding Officer
Food service
Event management
Finance and accounting of the submarine's canteen operations

After your initial training, you’ll be employed primarily in table and food services, while dealing with business transactions through the submarine's canteen. If you progress to the level of Senior Sailor, you’ll get all the necessary hotel management, business and logistical skills to run a small business, along with opportunities to travel overseas. There are also job prospects in other areas, including working as a personal assistant to VIPs such as the Governor General and Chief of Navy.
