An exciting opportunity for skilled and organised Accountant to join our Australia Finance team based in Melbourne. Reporting to the Financial Controller - Australia, this is a pivotal role with a combination of project and financial accounting where you will manage our Victoria business unit’s project accounting requirements and be involved with the day-to-day general accounting tasks and statutory compliance.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Maintain and monitor individual project's financial performance and ensure contract adherence, monthly billing, and revenue recognition along with monthly project reconciliations.
Manage project set-up, project maintenance, contract & variation management, and project closure.
Manage the reporting of project financial performance and related risks including detailed review of WIP, Debtors, and productivity analysis.
Assist the Principals and Project Managers to generate appropriate revenue recognition as well as provide support where needed during billing process.
Resolve and reconcile project issues relating to cost, WIP, invoicing, revenue recognition and budgets.
Perform monthly project performance reviews and analysis.
Work with the Australian Finance team to ensure projects (revenue and costs) are properly stated for month end close.
Perform daily general accounting tasks including monthly and year end closing activities, and GL reconciliations
Oversee daily accounting transaction including AR and AP functions.
Preparation and lodgement of statutory compliances for the business unit.
Assisting the Australian Finance team on annual audit
Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration.
CA/CPA qualified or currently pursuing qualifications
Familiarity with project accounting system - Deltek is highly regarded.
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in similar roles within the engineering consultancy or related industry.
Strong communication, collaboration skills and keen to learn.
Analytical capability with strengths in identifying and implementing continuous improvement.
Strong business partnering skills
Ability to work independently under limited supervision and manage a high volume of work to meet strict deadlines.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
