Establishes and maintains their shops safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals and objectives. Manages and motivates their staff to ensure continuous productivity improvements in cost, production and project build efficiency. Coordinates development and build of kit and material flow equipment. Ensures assigned department meets established safety, production and quality levels.Job FunctionsThe following job function statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. The job function statements reflect expectations of the fully trained, proficient incumbent who meets all performance criteria.Provides the Kaizen shops mid to long term project planning direction and support along the way.Reports zone progress regarding production, quality, safety and budgetary compliance.Promotes a safe work environment and maintains an atmosphere of trust and positive morale for the assigned zone.Leads planning for changes or modifications to zone processes & equipment.Works cross functionally with Maintenance, Engineering, and MH for shop improvements.Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development; interviews and selects employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; and monitors time and attendance of subordinates.Interfaces and communications with internal departments to ensure production targets are met and provide countermeasures for zone concerns.As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.Minimum QualificationsThe following qualification statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant. Job Knowledge and Skill:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop and analyze reports. Detail oriented with project planning experience. Minimum of 2 years work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a highly automated or automotive manufacturing environment.Supervisory/Leadership Experience:Experience in a work leader role coordinating the work of other employees or contractors. This includes training new employees, assigning work, and checking the timeliness and quality of work. May have provided input into performance reviews. Most time in work leader role would have been spent performing work similar to that performed by the people whose activities the position coordinates.Education:High School Diploma is required, and a related degree from an accredited four-year college is preferred.Computer Skills:Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, spreadsheet, and other computer applications to output reports with similar, non-creative formats is required.PREFERRED DUTIES BASED ON SPECIFIC NEEDSExperienced in lean material flow solutions.Experience working cross functionally with Maintenance and Engineering teams.Experience lean material flow equipment to enhance processes.Experience managing the daily operation of a kaizen shop.Experience planning budgets and working within a budget.Experience in implementing AGCs to assist material movement.Physical RequirementsThe physical requirements described below are representative of those an employee must normally meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
