NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES RESEARCH UNIT (CAPE TOWN OFFICE) The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) strives to improve the nation's health and quality of life by funding and conducting relevant and leading health research. Driver (12 Month contract renewable) The Non-Communicable Diseases Research Unit (NCDRU) is looking for an experienced driver who is familiar with and has experience in research fieldwork who will be responsible for the driving of research participants, fieldworkers and biological specimen as well as project administrative duties for NCDRU specific studies. The NCDRU aims to improve the understanding, detection, prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a major initial focus on cardiovascular and metabolic disorders in South Africa. Responsibilities will include: Driving of research study participants Transporting of biological specimen General project administrative tasks Assisting project staff members with other tasks, when needed Core Requirements: A matric certificate/NQ4 qualification 3 years of driving experience Be fully bilingual, English and isiXhosa (be able to read, write and communicate fluently) Code 8 driver's license PDP Added Advantage: Has been involved in research work before Has experience as a driver of passengers and goods Excellent communication skills Experience in community entry engaging with gatekeepers and community leaders Administration and organization skills (record keeping and reporting) Terms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment.
