JOB PURPOSETo plan, implement, co-ordinate, control and maintain a professional investigation service to safeguard, investigate the theft of, and recover assets and information of our client and their clientsMAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDuties as set out in the Assistant Investigators job description as well as:Maintenance and Inspections:Review the utilisation and maintenance of security equipmentCommunicate security needs and problems to senior managementSupervise shifts rosters, off days, leave taken, etc. for all Security Guards, and Assistant Investigators, to ensure all operations runs smoothlyDo regular site inspections (daily) and ensure to cover all the vulnerable areasDo unscheduled (surprise) inspection to identify any non-conformances in security personnel area of responsibilityEnsure all security officers and supervisors are disciplinedEnsure all Assistant Investigators are performing their dutiesCrime Risk Analysis and Crime Prevention:Formulate relevant preventative measures to ensure a downward trend in criminal activitiesDevelop and foster an interactive relationship with internal and external crime affiliated third parties and law enforcement agencies to combat and minimize criminal activitiesGather and analyse information to identify possible crime related trendsIt is a well-known fact that informants are particularly important tools of an investigator; therefore, all investigators should continuously recruit new informantsDo extensive and proactive research into the core reasons for relevant criminal activitiesMake recommendations to fight criminal activitiesEvaluate the protection status on hot spot areas and report it to senior management with recommendations on how to fight these criminal activitiesPlan and implement investigation techniques which complied with legal requirements and the policies and procedures of Combined Private InvestigationsConduct investigations in a professional and effective mannerGo to crime sites and gather information and evidenceQuestion witnesses and gather witness statements. Ensure statements are written within 24 hours and hand in with photos to relevant personnelIdentify suspects / syndicates out of current investigations / informationIdentify the modus operandi of suspects / syndicates as well as the vehicles that they use in their actionsIdentify the buyers where the suspects / syndicates sell the stolen property / materialLiaise with law enforcement agencies to verify and validate informationInvestigators attending the incident / crime scene shall immediately make a full report to the Director / Operations ManagerInvestigators shall update the Director / Operations Manager on a continuous basis of all noteworthy incidentsDo follow up investigations through means of informants and further information receivedGive all information through to the relevant personnelTestify in court when requiredCompilation of dockets. Ensure that all the necessary information is included and that the docket is compiled in the right mannerEnsure that the compiled docket is handed over to the Docket CarrierArrests and Convictions:Arrest syndicates that are responsible for theft in areaEnsure high conviction rate. Ensure high conviction rate by preparing yourself and your witnesses for courtEnsure that all witnesses go through their statements before testifying so that it is fresh in their mindsGo through the court procedure and ensure that the witnesses know when to say whatEnsure that the witnesses remember the detail of the sceneAsk the legal team to assist where necessaryTake them to another court case for preparation so that they feel comfortable with the processMake sure you are prepared for court and know all details of the caseSPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust be willing to travel and be away from home for long periods of timeIt is a specific requirement of this position that you need to operate in the field under sometimes strenuous physical circumstances; it is therefore a requirement that you must be fit and healthyIt is required that the candidate have their own accommodation close to the office and must be willing to travel to and from the office on their own accountEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMatric (Grade 12) or equivalent (NQF level 4)Any further education in policing / investigations will be highly beneficialThree to Five years crime investigations experiencePLEASE NOTE:If you do not receive any feedback from us within weeks please regard your application as unsuccessful
