About the roleAre you a passionate about bringing together two disciplines - the world of data analytics and underwriting risk assessment? If so, we have an opportunity that could be just what you seek, to join our L&H team as a research analyst. You will join an experienced, international team, venturing into new and innovative underwriting solutions. You will enjoy wide exposure across a variety of new and traditional underwriting solutions; from exploring health datasets to insurtechs / startups to bringing new approaches to traditional underwriting R&D. We're looking a self-starter to bring strong technical skills that support horizon scanning through to implementing research in tangible business opportunities. Your main responsibilities are toSupport in driving global Underwriting development, innovation and "blue-sky" underwriting, as well as new solutions Focus on the interplay of data analytics, medicine, risk, technology, products etc. Source, define and scope areas of R&D opportunity, navigating the uncertainty Development of our underwriting risk assessment methodologies and model development and assessment Support regional L&H projects or initiatives Strong collaboration with internal colleagues and partners Support in-market teams to develop specific innovative underwriting solutions by using or conducting credible research Support of thought leadership and brand-relevant positioning of Swiss Re as the risk knowledge company Contribute to articles with actionable insights and innovations that help our clients manage risk and grow, and bring this research to life via client presentations External visibility via social media, LinkedIn blogs etc. Support regional and global SR representatives for industry events through key topic presentations Skills required for the roleGraduate degree in Health sciences with competency in data analytics; OR Actuarial / Statistical / Computer Sciences willing to develop medical knowledge base Competency in data analytics, coding, model performance evaluation and prediction interval estimation Familiarity in the areas of L&H underwriting or pricing are an advantage Entrepreneurial and innovative personality who is capable of self-starting innovative (and fitting into existing traditional underwriting research projects) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, reflected through prior research experience, publications and / or presentations Ability to connect the dots across initiatives and leverage synergies to maximize business outcomes Fluency in English a must. Other languages a plus.
