Legal Compliance Specialist

Would you like to fill the position of Legal Compliance Specialist within the Centre of Excellence: Group Assurance?The Legal Compliance Specialist will be responsible for:Ensuring ongoing compliance with all applicable legislative and regulatory requirementsEnsuring compliance with King 4 and assisting with assuranceDrafting and updating risk ratings, compliance risk management plans and annual plans , and giving compliance advice for key laws e.g. NCA (primary focus), Debt Collectors Act, POPIA and FICAProviding compliance advice for key laws in Botswana, Lesotho and EswatiniDrafting policies and oversight of certain policies for key lawsLiaising with TFG internal audit and external auditors regarding complianceProviding awareness training on applicable laws, compliance related systems, creating a culture of compliance, risk awareness, identification, assessment, mitigating and monitoring lawsMaintaining a legislative risk register and reporting on these risks, and actions requiredKeeping management updated on legislative developments i.e.draft laws and proposed new lawsMonitoring TFG customer complaints systems and complaints to external bodies on TFGProvide legal compliance advice and opinions to in-house legal advisors and the businessSubmission of reports, financials and keeping company records with the relevant regulators up to dateAssisting with drafting compliance reports to 3 board committeesAssisting in up-skilling the teams compliance assistantsWhere specified, attending meetings on laws being drafted (e.g. parliament or industry bodies) and provide reportsFacilitating compliance and project managing compliance related changes within the businessFacilitating the automation of compliance monitoring within areas of responsibilityRequirementsLLB qualification (essential)Admitted attorney (essential)Compliance qualification from a recognised institution e.g. UCT/CISA compliance management courseMinimum 3 years post articles experienceCompliance experience outside of a law firmAble to work independently and in a teamAn individual willing to take the initiativeExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to build and value relationshipsAble to stand their ground and persuadeEven temper, humble, curious mind and excited to get involved in taking compliance digital!Please ensure your Line Manager is aware and in support of your applicationPreference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act
