JUNIOR QUANTITY SURVEYORINTRODUCTION AND ROLE CONTEXTSFI Group (Pty) Ltd, a national air-conditioning and maintenance company seeks to employ a Junior Quantity Surveyor to perform a variety of quantity surveyor tasks, under the supervision of a Project Manager, over a wide range of projects and must be able to work under pressure.This position is based at our Head Office in Cape Town and is available immediately. The working environment is deadline and target driven and requires commitment.RESPONSIBILITIESRole ResponsibilityOversight and control of the following key areas: Assisting with cost control and reporting during the pre-contract period Estimating and cost planning Tender document preparation Tender reporting Contract administration and cost control Advising on cost during the progress of the works, estimating final costs and reporting on the financial effects Interim valuations Cost reporting Final account preparation Attend meetings and undertake site visits Maintain records of all tender submissions Compiling progress reports for internal and external use; Pricing BOQs of various scopes, Electrical, HVAC and General BuildingYou will also assist the Project Teams with Preparing and using cost data Preparing estimates Preparing certifications and/or schedules of rates Formulating or implementing procedures on tendering and contractual arrangements for main or sub-contracts or contracts of supply Monitoring proposed construction methods or sequences and reporting on actual requirements; preparing cost-benefit reports on alternative construction methods Cost control during the progress of the worksRequired Qualification and Experience2 - 3 years working industry experience Experience in construction buildings and projects Project Management experience will be an advantage Past experience within the HVAC industry Ability to work independently or in teams on projects. Working in a high-pressure deadline-driven environment Valid Drivers License Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent BSc (QS)/BTech in Quantity SurveyingRequired KnowledgeKnowledge and ability to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed Be familiar with a wide range of equipment Sound hand tools knowledgeCompulsory CriteriaThe Successful candidate must reside/live in Cape Town (non-negotiable) Meet minimum experience and qualifications above.
