Lead Electrical Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Engineer who will be responsible for creating, maintaining and repairing electrical and electronic components, equipment or systems.

Providing technical direction, you will work with Electrical Engineers, Electricians or technicians to determine the best path for any given request. You will also be the point of contact for engineering matters, prepare briefings for senior management and assist in problem resolution specific to any ongoing projects.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have the ability to read schematics and blueprints, troubleshoot or evaluate electrical/electronic equipment
  • Build equipment, replace old equipment and install new equipment as directed
  • Calibrate equipment and instrumentation
  • Prepare BOMs when required
  • Be able to work well with all levels of personnel either individually or in a team environment
  • Consistently meet monthly deadlines and objectives
  • Have a huge focus on identifying and implementing improvement to processes especially in the repair and PLC Centre production areas. Target of such improvements are made in key areas including quality, production capacity and goal attainment in order to prepare the company for its expected increased capacity as they grow.

Experience required:

  • Proven background in Electrical/Electronics, mechanical and/or power transmission fields - ESSENTIAL
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Experienced in design, repair and analysis of electronic systems
  • High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required
  • Understanding of high voltage electricity
  • PLC programming knowledge would be an advantage
  • A recognised Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification is required

The post will have some physical demands and you should be capable of reaching/working overhead, lifting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling where required.

There will also be episodes of continuous standing and/or repetitive hand motion and frequent walking. Lifting requirements include frequent lifting of up to 100 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 35 pounds. Also, working from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts.
