SEND Learning Support Assistant

Five Education are working with a Secondary School in North Bristol, where learning is focused on developing the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes the students need now and in the future. We are looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants who are committed and work really hard in a team that supports each other.

This is a long term role, 3 to 5 days a week, with the potential of being temp-to-perm. You will be providing general SEND/ MLD/ SEMH/ EAL support to students on a 1:1 or small groups basis.

Responsibilities and duties
Help the students to access the curriculum and possibly tailor the lesson of the activity to their level of ability
Build a strong relationship with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their potential
Using de-escalation techniques to ensure the students is calm and able to access the full range of education offered
Using behaviour management techniques (e.g. those learned in Team Teach or MAPA courses) to keep the student calm and maintain a safe working environment

Essential Criteria:
At least 6 months experience working with children/vulnerable adults in an education or care setting
At least 6 months experience supporting individuals with SEND/SEMH needs
Knowledge of the KS3/4/5 curriculum
A proactive approach to assisting students in their work
Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
Two recent child/vulnerable adult based references and relevant DBS/Police checks
Access to bicycle, car or near main bus routes
Able to work between 08.30-15.30, 3-5 days a week

Five Education do not believe in using umbrella bodies, we use PAYE and how this isnt comparable with umbrella body pay and that there is no admin fee as with Umbrella bodies and Five Education pay employers national insurance on top of the salary.
